Who Is Partners4Housing?

We empower families and self-advocates with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) to create housing solutions that meet their unique needs. Together, we create a viable and resilient plan for housing and support.

Ways we work with families

We work with self-advocates and families of adults with IDD who want to understand their options, get the full benefits they are entitled to, find the right roommates and family partners, and secure the right housing. Getting there is often a complicated and confusing journey, so we’ve designed our services to answer your questions every step of the way.

Definition of Shared Living

Shared living is when people live together to share the cost of housing and support services. The families control the housing and hire caregivers to drop in or live in based on their needs and desires. The essence of this housing model is that families commit to working together to identify and secure housing and services, and they collaborate to make the shared solution successful.

Our Services

Benefits and Housing Review: Our person-centered process is for any self-advocate or family exploring housing options for their Loved One with a disability. You will begin to clarify your housing vision and articulate support needs, the benefits and services you are eligible for, where you will live, and how your new home will support your lifestyle preferences and social activities.

Roommate Matching Pool: We help families and self-advocates find one another to create a shared home with our Roommate Matching Pool. After the Benefits and Housing Review is completed, eligible individuals and families are invited to join the Roommate Matching Pool and search through profiles to find compatible roommates.

Shared Living Development: We will work with the families involved to: Review Benefits And Housing Reviews, support plans, and housing and support needs, identify funding streams, develop a household budget, navigate the Section 8 process, identify and secure housing, facilitate landlord relationships, create caregiver job descriptions and agreements and facilitate onboarding, establish a relationship with a home healthcare agency, set up resident notebooks, establish house rules and procedures, develop and finalize guardian agreements, landlord agreements, and house operating agreements, and facilitation of three separate follow-up reviews over six months.

One-on-one consulting: We offer private consultation to families exploring housing solutions. A few consulting options are only available for our Shared Living Development Clients.

Partners for Housing offers the Benefits and Housing Review for a fee of $500.

Special Offer: $100 discount to the first 50 individuals who sign up with the code BLT.
