Luna Azul, in Phoenix, Arizona is a “pocket neighborhood” style development that opened its doors in May 2020.  It was designed by Ross Chapin, the architect who initiated the pocket neighborhood concept.

There is a summary of the development, including a site plan, on Mr. Chapin’s web site.  The developer is Mark Roth, who has a daughter with a disability (see story here). Mr. Roth is also the founder of The Cottage Foundation, Inc., a non-profit corporation raising money to help finance the development of housing for adults with special needs.  Mr. Roth views the Phoenix development as a sort of demonstration project and hopes to build smaller developments elsewhere in the country, using profits from Luna Azul as seed capital.  Luna Azul is primarily marketed to people with disabilities and their families, some of which may choose to live with their family member with a disability.
